Banana Bread French Toast
This Banana Bread French Toast will get your morning started right!
This is my family’s favorite use for leftover Banana Bread. They will actually avoid eating it the day I make it in order to have some leftover for french toast! This is beyond delicious and truly heaven sent!
Be sure to check out Banana Bread Pudding Sundae, Banana Bread Caremel Sundae, and of course the original recipe for Banana Bread!
You’ll need milk, eggs, and vanilla.
First, we’ll get our bread all nice and toasted. Banana bread tends to be very moist and somewhat delicate so toasting it will dry it out a bit, enabling it to soak up more of our batter, and also toughen it up a bit so that it can withstand the dipping and turning without falling into pieces.
Place your slices on a baking sheet and put in the oven until lightly browned, then turn and let the other side brown. I just put my oven on 400 and kept an eye on them.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 slices leftover banana bread
Instructions
- Toast banana bread.
- Mix all ingredients and whisk well to blend. Dip each side of banana bread slices in batter and fry over medium heat in a skillet coated with melted butter, until golden on both sides.
- Top with bananas and Syrup.
Oh my goodness Christy! Just this morning, while I was making French Toast, my husband had to have a slice of Banana Nut Bread as an “appetizer”! LOL! Wish I had seen this early! LOL!
That looks unbelievable! Yummy.
This sounds wonderful. Wish I had some right now!
Sounds deliciuos Christy, never would have thunk it though, :))
Hahaha, we all call it that over here, it’s one of the oldest Dutch recipes.
It just doesn’t sound so bad in my language somehow! (in Dutch it’s “wentelteefjes”)
I wasn’t aware of the fact you guys make the exact same thing and call it French toast, lol.
But I’m glad you got a laugh out of it 😉
