Asparagus is a bit of an underrated vegetable, isn’t it? I feel like sometimes people don’t know how to serve it. Hence why today I’m sharing my recipe for grilled asparagus. This recipe couldn’t be easier, seriously. But sometimes the most simple recipes are truly the best, as they allow the natural asparagus flavor to shine through.

All you have to do is prepare the asparagus, thread them onto skewers, coat them in olive oil and salt and pepper, and place them on the grill. In less than 10 minutes, they’ll be ready to devour!

Now, you can prepare asparagus in all sorts of ways, like steaming, roasting, or boiling. But I don’t think anything compares to the smoky flavor and char marks you get from grilling asparagus. Plus, I love that the end result is grilled vegetables (in this case, asparagus) that are tender with a little crunch.

I’ve included quite a few serving suggestions below, but this grilled asparagus recipe wins points for its versatility as a side dish. You can serve it with all kinds of meaty main meals, like pork chops, grilled salmon, or sticky chicken

Recipe Notes

  • For something different, add a teaspoon of garlic powder, minced garlic, or lemon pepper seasoning when you toss asparagus in the kosher salt and pepper. For spice, opt for a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
  • You can also squeeze some lemon juice over the top as soon as you take it off the grill or serve it with a lemon wedge.
  • Grate some fresh parmesan cheese over the top for a side dish that’s to die for.
  • Another option is to add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar alongside the olive oil.
