A letter to you
Today, as I plucked our mail out of the mailbox, I began thinking of how rapidly life has changed. Most days I walk inside with a collection of catalogs and junk mail. I walk straight to the trash and stand over it as I go through them one by one. It is seldom that there is anything left in my hands when I turn around.
From time to time, Mama will send me a letter. Every now and then I get a card from my mother in law. Those are rare occurrences but a special joy when they happen. Then, I got to thinking about you and how it would be neat if I could send my readers actual letters from time to time. I quickly went over the math and cost of stamps and felt a little bit defeated when I saw the impossibility of it all.
But, I had an idea. I could write a letter and post it here, for you to download and print if you want. I sat down to my computer and a few minutes later, I had written a letter to you, a friend.
The letter is below. It’s just a pdf. My hope is that you’ll print it off to read, making it come to life as a real paper letter like we had back in the old days. It was just a silly, heartfelt notion of me reaching out to you and sharing my heart and life as a friend would. So if you decide to complete that connection by reading it, thank you.

Christy, first let me say what a blessing the Bible study Facebook group has been to me. My husband (Danny) and I have started our own Bible study every morning and also read some Max Lucado’s books together. We have grown closer to our Lord and to each other, I wish we had started doing these studies when we first married 44 years ago, so much wasted time. My first real re-entry to bible study came from you, when you posted links to scripture writing. I have run out of the scripture writing sites, and find myself looking to pinterest to find more. I have been writing the scriptures for 2 + years, and truly have learned so much and grown closer in my walk with our Father.
Thank you for Pig Picking cake recipe, I haven’t made it or thought about it in 40 years, can’t believe I’m that old. I really enjoy all of your recipes.
Thank you for all you do and your wonderful Ministry to revive the reading of the Bible.
Love Jan
Christy, thanks for the sweet letter. I agree…I miss snail mail from friends too. My family started camping when I was 7 in a travel trailer. My friends and family said we only went away from home because we had shower and toilet…stoves and refrigerator. LOL We traveled the U.S. and Canada. What memories I have!!! Happy Camping!
Christy Dear – you are a joy! How I soaked in every word in your lovely letter…letter writing has sadly gone out of style. I loved all the details you shared, and laughed when you talked about Ricky meeting all the neighbors. I’m that very same way. We just returned home after spending 3 months in a camper in Florida. It was such a blessing, but I was always telling him about the neighborhood folks…he had no clue. =) I know I can count on your delicious and simple recipes and I make many of them. Tomorrow I’ll be making your Cake Mix cookies and cream cookies for a ladies meeting at church tomorrow evening. You are just a wonder….I’m a better person because of your impact in my life. Thanks for being a beautiful example of God’s special love for us.
I just loved reading your letter Christy. Thank you so much! I hope you will do another one soon.
Christy,
What a thoughtful surprise your letter was to receive, thank-you so much. It was a joy and a blessing.
Blessings to you,
Penny
I love reading about you and your family.
I also love getting mail that isn’t all bills and junk.
I started making handmade cards anout a year ago and send out for birthdays, holidays and just random thinking of you cards and I won’t be stopping anytime soon, I look for reason to send handmade personal cards to family and friends.
Happy camping
First, Thank You for sharing your letter with me which I enjoyed very much. I am going to share a few things about me with you. I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in November 1943 which makes me 75. I married my high school sweet heart at the age of 17 in May 1961 celebrating 58 years in 2019. We have 2 married daughters with spouses, 3 grandsons, 3 granddaughters (2 with spouses) and in August will have 4 great grandsons and we all are Church going Christians. My mother was the oldest born into a farm family of 12 children. My grandmother was born into a farm family of 14 children. I have a cousin that is researching our family tree and it is no joke that we are related in some shape or form to a huge part of Texas and some other states as well. It would not surprise me if we were related, definitely in spirit if not blood. I am good with the computer but do not own a cell phone and dislike extremely all social media sites. I have never met a stranger and have a gift of hospitality; I love to cook and share. I read all of your shared stories and have tried a large number of your recipes. You are one of the many angels that are sharing my life’s path and I just wanted to share with you something about me as you continue to share your life with so many others. Just know that you are loved by many and if I could I would give you a huge hug and pat on the back. You are doing good work; do not ever stop. For His Sake from one Bible reading country gal to another. Your Friend, Frances
