Blushing Apple Juleps

A few years back we had an August photo shoot for Southern Living Magazine. It was hot as blazes and we were dressed for the fall issue of the magazine. As fate would have it, Katy Rose spent most of her time posing in front a pitcher of these apple juleps – but she couldn’t drink any because they’d been sitting out in 100 degree weather all day. The moment we got home, I made her a whole batch of those and she sure was a happy gal! They are still her favorite when she has friends over and special occasions (like tea parties!).

I can’t even begin to tell you how much we miss Grandmama. She has been gone almost a year and a half now but I can still hear her voice when I read this post. Oh, the dumplings are delicious by the way :).

See ya tomorrow for more apple recipes! Y’all be sure and tell me what you plan on making in the comments.

Do you visit an orchard each year?

I’d love to hear about your fall traditions!

  1. Sorry for all the typosin my last comment. They happen when I type fast. I really want to try the apple pound cake, too. I also make fried apples with pork chops a lot this time of year.

  2. I made your amazing apple bread this past wend– so, sooo goood! Love your recipes. I love the Fall. It is probably my favorite season. We went apple picking this past weekend and had a blast. I usually always make app crisp at least twice a season and apple pie of course. I am trying your apple orchard snack cake tonight for our desert for supper. We picked three different varieties of apples.

  3. They all look and sound absolutely wonderful Christy, but the Apple Skillet Cake is just calling my name! I want to try that one first. I was wondering if it can be made with a store bought cake mix?

    1. I’m sure you could but it will be tricky to fix it so it doesn’t overflow the skillet. The recipe itself is so simple I just do it from scratch. You’d at least have to half the cake mix or use two skillets. It will be a fun endeavor either way!

  4. Hi Christy! I want to make the Apple Pound Cake. I go with friends to visit Apple Annie’s in Wilcox, Arizona. They have apple, peach, and pear orchards. They also have a separate section for vegetables. It’s usually three times a year that I go. Once for once for peaches, then again for apples and pears, stopping for vegetables each of those times. In fall I go to pick pumpkins. Went a couple weeks ago to get apples, came home and made applesauce.
Love your recipes and look forward to making more of them!
