April Archives 2008-[year]
Good Morning! Here is a list I pulled together of all of my posts from past months of April on SouthernPlate.com, in one convenient place for you should anyone want to catch up or see what they might have missed. I’m planning on doing this with each month as it arrives throughout the year so stay tuned and make sure you subscribe by email to avoid missing anything. Meanwhile, If you’re hankering for something new or even familiar tastes from the old days, you’re sure to find it on this list.
I look forward to chatting with you in the comments so be sure and drop a “hidy” if you’ve got the time!
Gratefully,
If any of the links don’t work, that is a mistake on my part and I’ll try to get it fixed as soon as I’m aware of it. Please let me know in the comments and then use the search box in the top right hand corner of SouthernPlate (beneath the title area) to search for the recipe by name. I will correct the link as soon a I get to my computer. Thank you!

2008 – I started SouthernPlate.com in July of 2008 so 2009 was my first April blogging :).
Christy, thanks so much for doing these archive posts every month. As someone who only found your site a couple of years ago, I am really enjoying it. I’ve already spent hours looking around the site at some of your older recipes, but I always discover new recipes to try in these monthly posts, plus some posts that are just fun to read.
Also, I enjoy seeing your kids’ photos in the older posts. Sometimes I look at a post from just a few years ago and it makes me think, “look how little they were back then!” LOL, I do that with my own son too, of course. Sometimes, he comes down to the kitchen in the morning and says something in his deep voice and I think to myself, “Who are you and what did you do with my adorable little four year old?” Ha, I know you can relate!
I couldn’t wait to see you and your Mama on “The Talk!” But the video wasn’t there 🙁
Well foo! I’ll have to dig it up tomorrow and see what they did with it. Hopefully I can find another link. Sorry about that!
Christy,
Surely a Southern girl like you has experienced the delights of pickled watermelon rinds? I love your pickled onions and would like to see you take a stab at some pickled watermelon rinds. I was raised on a farm in Southern Missouri and my Mom made these and canned them so we had them year around.
I enjoy your recipies and just thought I would make a suggestion. Thanks for the good work.
Christy,
I never open your email that I don’t laugh.
Ever sense your article on the horse. I always thing, “The Horsy Lady”
Reason, i had the same thing happen to me. I jumped up on a beautiful paint horse, no saddle, and the next thing i knew i was waking up laying flat on the ground. No one had told me that he can’t be ridden like other horses but had to sit “more up front”. Who knew?
So you always get a good smile from me without doing anything. Love your recipes and column.
Thanks,
(do you have Sous Vide recipes or Pressure cooker Recipes?)
Old Souther Boy, Darr
I just want to thank you for doing this, Christy! You are so generous with your time and knowledge, plus you just seem like a really sweet person. I wish we were neighbors. Thank goodness for the internet 🙂
Thank you Quinn!!! We would make great neighbors wouldn’t we?
I am enjoying reading through the past posts and it is surprising just how many I remember quite well. I was wondering though what happened to Bill Gant. I remember him commenting frequently and I always like his communiques and tales of his Dad.
I have to ask, why aren’t you on television? You have the personality, recipes and a way with making recipes so simple and easy. The food network needs to get rid of some of those game shows they have and scoop you up asap!
You are so right Sharon, on all points. That show where people run around the grocery store filling their carts, with the clock ticking against them, is right out of the Milton Berl , Red Skelton & Buster Keaton era. Even my dear grandmother would have changed channels on that one! Hope to see you on tv one day soon, Christy!
