Biscuit Class – Classic 3 Ingredient Biscuits

Link to this recipe is below the video

biscuit class photo1

Good Morning! Last weekend I got together with a few of my friends who claimed they couldn’t make good biscuits and taught them how to make three different kinds! Everyone’s biscuits turned out beautifully and the great news is that my husband recorded the whole thing so I can bring my Biscuit Classes here to you, as well.

This is the first time we’ve done something like this so there are kinks to work out, of course, but I think this first effort turned out pretty good. We hope to purchase another camera before recording the next series of classes, so you can see my friends off camera more throughout the class. All in all, I think the video makes you feel like you are there, which, for me, is the next best thing to actually having you there :).

Thank you so much for watching and please comment below if you found this video helpful. I have been pleasantly surprised by all of the positive feedback on my “Answering Questions” series of videos and your comments and encouragement have been directly responsible for me doing more!

The links to recipes mentioned in this video can be found below. There is an ad that plays before the video (sometimes) in order to help fund a second camera :). Thanks for your understanding and support!

Stay tuned for more videos from my Biscuit class! Before we’re done I’ll teach you how to make every biscuit shown on this table (yup, they’re all biscuits!). Next time, we’re going to bring a real camera with us, too 🙂

  1. Hi Christy – My daugher and I watched your video this morning and made the best biscuits ever! I can’t tell you how much your video helped. I’ve tried many recipes, but these were so easy and delicious. Please keep the videos coming! Many thanks, Jennifer

  2. Our church is having a fund-raiser BEAN SUPPER. I need to bake cornbread. I saw a video “somewhere on Internet” (I think it was after the 3-ingredient biscuit SOUTHERNPLATE.com video) about making cornbread in a black cast-iron skillet…plop 1 t. heaping bacon grease in cold skillet…heating the oven & skillet in a 450 degree oven, till the skillet was “smoking”. Only then, does one start making the bread batter…recipe used cornmeal, 1 egg, (had 2 cups buttermilk ready, but only used 1 cup) & 1/2 cup mayonnaise. The video said “don’t let the batter set/rise in the bowl, stir, but not too much…quickly pour in hot skillet and hear the sizzle.” Video showed brown-crusted ‘done’ cornbread…slicing it & placing pats of butter between. Christy, were you the one doing it? Was gonna watch it again, but can’t find ! Tell me where to find the video.

  3. No crickets! This was AMAZING! Thank you so much! My Grandmother taught me how to make biscuits, however, mine never came out nearly as good as hers. 🙁 I have tried and I have her methods, but still…..
So now after your films I feel SO MUCH BETTER!
Thank you so so much! 😀
    Love, Carol 🙂

  4. Hey from south Georgia! I have made hockey pucks up till now….I was too kneady;)
I used your techniques and they turned out yummy. I read in some of the above comments about people “pinching” the dough off instead of using a cutter or juice glass. My Nani did it that way and her biscuits always had knuckle marks on the top where she mashed them down a little before baking. What I wouldn’t give for one of her biscuits right now.
Thanks for the video Christy it was fun and informative.

    1. I’m so sorry. I’m afraid this is a device issue that you’ll have to look into but it could possibly be an internet connectivity issue. You might try watching them on the youtube app. They are just youtube hosted videos so there is no reason why they wouldn’t play on an apple device. From the youtube app just search “southernplate” and my channel should come right up with all of my videos.
