Chat Video: Snow, My New Oven, and Learning Where To Grow Your Roots
Today I’m chatting with you about the snow, the amazing way I am getting a new oven, and learning where to grow your roots – and I’m not talking about plants! I also ask for your advice on a few things. I’d love to hear from you in the comments section below!Â
Hi Christy,
I love getting emails and videos from you! I don’t think you should pay anything to have your Face Book followers read your postings. I was on Face Book for a couple of months a few years ago and that was enough for me… I don’t see why your readers would mind reading an email every day… I mean they take the time to visit Face Book and all…
As for gardening in the shade, yes that’s a real problem. However, I grow cucumbers, green beans and swiss chard in part sun. You can also grow all of the cole crops broccoli, cauliflower, collards etc., as well as peas and a few other things. Much as I love the cole crops I can’t grow them here as the bugs just eat them up. You could also try planting potatoes in the dollar store laundry baskets like I’m going to do this year, that way you can move them around to follow the sun!
I’m so excited for you in winning that new stove, sure couldn’t happen to a more deserving person either!!
Take care, Nancy
Thank you so much Nancy!! What a great idea about the dollar store laundry baskets!! Thank you so much for sharing that little tip!!
Hi Christy! Just watched your video! Enjoyed it! Miss your daily posts too. They were so uplifting & inspiring! Good luck with your new book! Greek chicken is one of our favorites!
Hey Lois!!! Oh my goodness, Greek chicken is one of my favorites too!! I am so glad you like it and thank you so much for watching the video!!
I so wish you were my neighbor! I love how positive you are all the time. You definitely keep me inspired to go out in the world and do my best. I think it is true that we can all inspire each other if everyone could just try and do at least one nice thing a day for a stranger! I love to collect cookbooks and to cook, but I don’t always feel like cooking. When I am tempted to go pick up take out, I always think of you and your recipes. I have a plan to get an upright freezer soon so I can do freezer meals and always have something ready made on hand! Just trying to get the cash together for one. I think if I have an upright one, I’ll be able to keep it all organized better than in my small deep freeze. Everything gets buried in there! After being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years, I have gone back to work and I love it. I just want to make sure I don’t spend my paycheck all on take out food!
I cannot wait until your third book come out! I am a huge fan of your recipes and love all the positive things you share.
Sincerely,
Margaret
P.S. Winning an oven is so cool!!!! So exciting!
Hi Margaret!! I know exactly what you mean about the chest freezer, I can never find anything in mine without taking everything out of it. And take-out does get very expensive!
Thanks for the “lift” today. I kinda needed it. 😉 In regards to your garden, you may like a site called One Hundred Dollars a Month. Mavis tries to spend only 100 dollars for groceries and she has become very experienced at gardening. She lives in the Northwest (and currently trying gardening on the east coast, as well), but I have been surprised at how much advice we can use down here on the Gulf Coast.
Hey Bethany!! I am going to have to check out some of her gardening tips, thanks for sharing!!
I have just finished watching your video. It was as though you were in the room with me and my loneliness (temporary) went away. Thank you for all the lovely quotes and words and for caring.
Enjoy your recipies. Good luck with your new cookery book.
God Bless Deirdre
Hey Deirdre! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to hang out with me for a bit!!
I am a 69 year old Georgia girl who married the love of her life and moved to Southern California many years ago. I started following you right before your horse accident. I love your recipes but most of all I love your sense of humor, the stories and inspiration that come from a genteel southern woman. I am not on Instagram and I had no idea that you had to pay to post on Facebook. I don’t knoe how you can reach all of your fans all the time but I certainly do not mind the emails. I work the 3pm to 11:30pm shift and it just makes my day opening one of your emails the first thing when I get up. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you. Keep up the good work. Thank you and God Bless. Connie
THank you so much Connie!! I appreciate you more than you know!! Blessings to you!
This morning’s video chat message was lovely. Congrats on the new oven and thanks so much for the inspirational words!
Hi Kathy, thank you so much!!!
