Christy’s Q&A With You
I had a lot of fun this past weekend when I got a wild hair and decided to see if any of our Facebook Family members had questions they’d like me to answer. I then did a series of live videos answering them and posted them all on Facebook. Y’all were so sweet in your responses so I thought I’d post them here as well, in case anyone else was curious!
This ended up being a LOT of fun for me! There are five videos total and I put a summary below each one of what questions I answered.
The one recipe that I’ve never been able to find, my kitchen staples, Poke Sallet, best recipes for cooking with preschool aged children.
Mama answers one of your questions! What is my dream job?
Plans for Southern Plate, suggestions for stocking your pantry, what I have on hand at all times, substituting Splenda.
How I store my dry goods, my favorite coating for fried fish, School lunch ideas, and the story of how I met my husband. 🙂
Advice for cooking for just one, using lard, my preferred shortening, advice on whether it is best to self publish a cookbook or go with a publisher, Would you ever consider doing a cookbook featuring crock pot meals?
Information about how I made my canister set, more on the shortening that I love, and the Southern Plate Basket.
I really had fun doing these videos and getting to chat with y’all! I’m very much a people person (big shocker there) and the interaction here felt like we were visiting with each other. I’d love to do this again so keep your eye on my Facebook page and next time I get a chance I’ll open it up for questions again and post more live video answers!

Hey Christy,
Do more videos! Hope to come see you at UNA! Angela
Loved the videos. So glad you are sending the ebook again. My computer crashed that had the e book on it. . Wasn’t sure how to go about getting another copy. Thank you so much. Barbara
Christy,
I was watching that video about how you met your husband, and my jaw started to drop about halfway through your story….I just knew what you were going to say, because that’s how *I* met *my* husband, also back when it was not “trendy” like it is now.
I met my husband in 1996, only we met as chat hosts on AOL, back when AOL was really big and you had to pay by the hour. He was living in Northern Maine (but he’s not really a Yankee), and I’m born and raised in Kentucky. After chatting a while, I went up to visit him and his family up there, and he came to visit down here. We ended up getting engaged, he moved down here, and we got married a few months later, April 1997…been married 13 years now, with 3 kids.
It was too funny though when you started telling that story and saying how y’all used to lie about it, because it wasn’t popular back then….we used to do the same thing. Now, of course, it’s “normal” to meet online.
Love, love, love your posts and recipes…some of these things I haven’t had since I was a girl, and they bring back memories. We used to go to the country for big family reunions every year, and we had some of those very things that I had forgotten about!
We went to Florida on vacation this past June, and drove through Alabama – I thought about you! We drove right past the Space Center! I told my husband, “This is where Christy lives!” He just looked at me like, “Who’s Christy?” LOL!
It was great to hear you “in person!” Love your accent! I don’t have as strong Southern accent, since I’m from Kentucky, but apparently, I have one. I’ve been told by “Yankees” that, “I have the neatest accent.” I wasn’t aware that I had one – ha!
Look forward to many more posts!
Amanda
I feel like we just sat down and had a fun afternoon chat! I giggled out loud several times (hubby shot me funny looks!) and hope you can find the time to do these again!
Christy, Thanks for “visiting” with us via your “kitchen videos”… loved every second, and the information you shared will be very helpful to many of us. Great to hear your mom participating with you, as well! God’s best to you! Pat
I have really enjoyed your videos….going to find those cannisters…keep up the good work.
