If cream cheese is scarce in your neck of the woods, I have used greek yogurt and it was just as tasty. Other recipes have listed mayonnaise or sour cream as subs too.

I have made this with little mini shrimp (normally I am not a big seafood fan) and it was divine!
What is imitation crab?
Imitation crab is usually made from white fish. It’s usually made from something called surimi, or white fish flesh. It has the bones removed and minced into a paste. Then it’s combined together with other ingredients including both natural and artificial flavors, starch, sugar, and sodium.
Storage
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes
Can you heat this up?
I have heated this up a bit and it’s good, but personally wouldn’t do it more than once.
I’m a big fan of the cream cheese too! 🙂
This looks delicious – Aldi sells “fancy” crackers (Savoritz 6 assortment) that would do well with this. Definitely going to try this!
I actually used this recipe to stuff some celery sticks and cherry tomatoes for appetizers and everyone loved it.
It looks like a real people pleaser.
I’m sure this is wonderful as is if you like seafood. Is there another meat, like chicken, that can be used in place of the crab meat? We don’t care for fish or seafood at my house.
I haven’t used other protein in this recipe but can’t see why you couldn’t put cooked proteins in there.
This would be extra delicious heated, as you suggest doing. Definitely trying!
