But you know what else is right around the corner? It’s time to start thinking about our Halloween and Harvest costumes! I’ve recently been introduced to a wonderful company called Sensational Beginnings. They are a toy company that offers educational toys, that stimulate the imagination, the mind, and the senses!I don’t know about you, but if I had a dime for every time I spent money on plastic toys that barely outlived the life of the cardboard box they came in, I’d be a wealthy woman today!
I love the toys at Sensational Beginnings and I know you and your child will, too.
As a special offer JUST to Southern Plate readers,
Sensational Beginnings is offering a 10% Discount on all orders over $75.00 through September 20th, at 11:59 PM.
To get this exclusive discount, enter the code SOUTHERNPLATE at checkout. Click here to shop.
I always like to start buying Christmas the moment fall hits and I get it a little at a time to make it more budget friendly, so this is a great opportunity for you to do that.
They also have an EXTENSIVE Costume department. Katy Rose was thrilled when she first laid eyes on this pink super girl costume:
We rounded it out with the Strawberry Shortcake Wig. Of course is Super Girl is Super, it only stands to reason that she’d have pink hair (according to my Katy Rose).
Bradybug will be going the Deluxe Iron Man route this year…
Even though I REALLY tried to talk him into this one – if it was in my size I’d soooooooo be wearing it!
In addition to offering us an exclusive discount code, Sensational Beginnings is also offering an exclusive giveaway!
TEN Lucky Southern Plate Family Members

I was a very creative little “critter”. I would get one new package of paper dolls when school was out. I also got a bottle of glue, a pack of construction paper and colored pencils. I made “clothes” for my paperdolls, and they were beautiful.I also cut families of dolls out of catalogs, and the Betsy McCalls from McCalls magazine. I was in heaven all summer.
My cousin would come visit and he bought his Tinkertoys and we had the best time with them. We knew how to make our own fun. Children need to be creative.
My favorite toy was my good old faithful friend… my teddy bear! He was a little brown bear, nothing fancy, but he was by great protector and confidant! I carried him every where. When his little head started to come off, my mom sewed it back on and put a red ribbon around his neck. Even though I am the mommy of the boys of my own, my little friend still sits in the top of my closet today!
My favorite toy was a doll that my grandmother made for me. She resembelled a cabbage patch kid but was so much better. She gave it to me when I was about 4 and then my grandmother passed away when I was 6. That made the doll even more special.
Chatty Cathy! That was the best, but I was still always wanting to play with my brother’s toys too.
My favorite childhood toys would have to be my Carebears and my Jem and the Hologram dolls….I was a child of the 80’s! I also had a Teddy Ruxpin, She-ra princess of power doll, and the best of all is my CHUBBLES-which I still have!
Oh, I so loved my baby dolls… every one of them. I don’t have any of them left because I loved each one to pieces. A second favorite would be my Easy Bake Oven. I loved making little cakes even back then. 🙂
My favorite toy would have to be my Barbie dolls. I was just the right age to play with them when they first came out. My mama used to make our dolls all sorts of clothes. Oh the fun and memories. I still have my dolls too after almost 50 years.
