But you know what else is right around the corner? It’s time to start thinking about our Halloween and Harvest costumes! I’ve recently been introduced to a wonderful company called Sensational Beginnings. They are a toy company that offers educational toys, that stimulate the imagination, the mind, and the senses!I don’t know about you, but if I had a dime for every time I spent money on plastic toys that barely outlived the life of the cardboard box they came in, I’d be a wealthy woman today!
I love the toys at Sensational Beginnings and I know you and your child will, too.
As a special offer JUST to Southern Plate readers,
Sensational Beginnings is offering a 10% Discount on all orders over $75.00 through September 20th, at 11:59 PM.
To get this exclusive discount, enter the code SOUTHERNPLATE at checkout. Click here to shop.
I always like to start buying Christmas the moment fall hits and I get it a little at a time to make it more budget friendly, so this is a great opportunity for you to do that.
They also have an EXTENSIVE Costume department. Katy Rose was thrilled when she first laid eyes on this pink super girl costume:
We rounded it out with the Strawberry Shortcake Wig. Of course is Super Girl is Super, it only stands to reason that she’d have pink hair (according to my Katy Rose).
Bradybug will be going the Deluxe Iron Man route this year…
Even though I REALLY tried to talk him into this one – if it was in my size I’d soooooooo be wearing it!
In addition to offering us an exclusive discount code, Sensational Beginnings is also offering an exclusive giveaway!
TEN Lucky Southern Plate Family Members

My favorite toy growing up was a bike. I lived in a neighborhood that was fantastic, in a time when kids played all day in neighbors yards and our moms all sat out side in the front yard visiting with the other moms. We all rode bikes for what seemed miles and miles. All we had to remember was be back home by the time the street lights came on.
My favorite toy as a kid was my brown Pound Puppy. After I moved out of my Grandma’s house, I took him with me and still slept with him every night. I still have him, although he is packed up for safe keeping. I hope to one day pass him along to one of my kids 🙂
I LOVED my Sonny and Cher barbie’s i got when i was around 5 or 6. I was soooo excited! If i only had them now 🙂
My favorite toy when I was a little girl, and still my favorite today, because I still have her, was my Mrs. Beasley doll! She’s my most treasured possession. 🙂
My favorite toy as a child was Barbie. I spent many hours ( and years) playing with her. I especially loved making clothes for her with my Grandma. That was back before Barbie was all fancy. All she had back then was clothes and Ken of course. No dream house or fancy cars. I never had Ken, but my brother did have GI Joe. We also never had “store bought” Halloween costumes. We made ours every year…we usually ended up as ghosts, zombies, hoboes or scarecrows..whatever could be make from old clothes, scraps of fabric and our imaginations. 🙂
My favorite thing that I got for Christmas was a litle ironing board and tin iron when I was 4 years old. I would take it out on our walkway in the summer and ironed my doll’s clothes all day long.
My favorite character growing up was Rainbow Brite. I had the doll and the card game (like old maid, but BRIGHTER.) I liked the cartoons too. But really, I think I was jealous of her wardrobe. 😉
