It’s that time of year again.

Cotton is in bloom…

Apples are being picked

and the last bit of summer is ours for the taking!

and MAYBE sharing.. 🙂

But you know what else is right around the corner? It’s time to start thinking about our Halloween and Harvest costumes! I’ve recently been introduced to a wonderful company called Sensational Beginnings. They are a toy company that offers educational toys, that stimulate the imagination, the mind, and the senses!I don’t know about you, but if I had a dime for every time I spent money on plastic toys that barely outlived the life of the cardboard box they came in, I’d be a wealthy woman today!

I love the toys at Sensational Beginnings and I know you and your child will, too.

As a special offer JUST to Southern Plate readers,

Sensational Beginnings is offering a 10% Discount on all orders over $75.00 through September 20th, at 11:59 PM.

To get this exclusive discount, enter the code SOUTHERNPLATE at checkout. Click here to shop.

I always like to start buying Christmas the moment fall hits and I get it a little at a time to make it more budget friendly, so this is a great opportunity for you to do that.

They also have an EXTENSIVE Costume department. Katy Rose was thrilled when she first laid eyes on this pink super girl costume:

We rounded it out with the Strawberry Shortcake Wig. Of course is Super Girl is Super, it only stands to reason that she’d have pink hair (according to my Katy Rose).

Bradybug will be going the Deluxe Iron Man route this year…

Even though I REALLY tried to talk him into this one – if it was in my size I’d soooooooo be wearing it!

In addition to offering us an exclusive discount code, Sensational Beginnings is also offering an exclusive giveaway!

TEN Lucky Southern Plate Family Members

  1. Oh, so many favorites but (I’m fixing to date myself) one of my all-time favorites had to be “Mrs. Beasley”. For those who remember the old TV show “Family Affair”, she was a doll who looked like an old lady with glasses and when you pulled her string she talked. Oh, and I LOVED my “Drowsy” doll too (another good ol’ pull string toy!)

  2. My favorite toy as a child was a cabbage patch kid preemie that I named Jamie. Sometimes I would dress him up as a boy and sometimes as a girl. He didn’t have hair so I could pretend what I wanted. I got him the day my parents brought my sister home. I still have him after 23 years. Out of all my old toys, he is the only one I will never let go.

  3. My four-year-old son’s current favorite toy is a batch of very old Indians, cowboys, and army men that belonged to my (now 45-year-old) husband when HE was a child, and recently found on an excursion to my mother-in-law’s house. These along with a little fort my father-in-law built for my husband many years ago occupy much of my little fellow’s time.

  4. My favorite toy as a child was an Eaton Beauty Doll. I would gaze at her longingly every time we were in Eaton’s, and I was thrilled to get her for Christmas- she had big blue eyes and blonde hair- what’s not to like?!

  5. You guys are SO killing me with these apple posts- I wish we were coming up ‘north’ for fall applepicking this year!

In the oddity that is preschool- daughter has gone back to her lovely angel bear that she got when we brought her home. It has been put up for over a year, but suddenly 2 days ago she HAD to have it and it goes everywhere (but stays in the car, it has manners, quoteth the 3 yr old-yeah I know, she’s like me, DONT say it! LOL). At least the Jesus Loves Me music battery died. It was LOUD and LONG! LOL
