It’s that time of year again.

Cotton is in bloom…

Apples are being picked

and the last bit of summer is ours for the taking!

and MAYBE sharing.. 🙂

But you know what else is right around the corner? It’s time to start thinking about our Halloween and Harvest costumes! I’ve recently been introduced to a wonderful company called Sensational Beginnings. They are a toy company that offers educational toys, that stimulate the imagination, the mind, and the senses!I don’t know about you, but if I had a dime for every time I spent money on plastic toys that barely outlived the life of the cardboard box they came in, I’d be a wealthy woman today!

I love the toys at Sensational Beginnings and I know you and your child will, too.

As a special offer JUST to Southern Plate readers,

Sensational Beginnings is offering a 10% Discount on all orders over $75.00 through September 20th, at 11:59 PM.

To get this exclusive discount, enter the code SOUTHERNPLATE at checkout. Click here to shop.

I always like to start buying Christmas the moment fall hits and I get it a little at a time to make it more budget friendly, so this is a great opportunity for you to do that.

They also have an EXTENSIVE Costume department. Katy Rose was thrilled when she first laid eyes on this pink super girl costume:

We rounded it out with the Strawberry Shortcake Wig. Of course is Super Girl is Super, it only stands to reason that she’d have pink hair (according to my Katy Rose).

Bradybug will be going the Deluxe Iron Man route this year…

Even though I REALLY tried to talk him into this one – if it was in my size I’d soooooooo be wearing it!

In addition to offering us an exclusive discount code, Sensational Beginnings is also offering an exclusive giveaway!

TEN Lucky Southern Plate Family Members

  1. My favorite toy when I was little was a doll that came with her own record player. When you played the records it sounded as though it was coming from her and she was singing. It was two toys in one!

  2. oh, that sounds like one amazing company! My kids prefer ‘non toy’ items… they like to mimic what I’m doing, cooking, making jewelry, cleaning or crafting. They adore books… but if I HAD to pick their favorite toy I would say Haylo’s is her ‘big girl laptop’ that teaches words, math, and things like that and Mika carries his dinosaurs everywhere!

  3. One of my favorite toys was a barbie, and my grandma had made all of her out fits, it was and still is amazing the detail she went to on all of the clothes. thanks for the chance to win.

  4. When I was little I remember getting toys once a year and that was at Christmas, and of course we didn’t want to mess up our good toys by taking them outside and during the summer we were always outside. So I would have to say that my favorite toy was my sister! We did it all together from baseball to mud pies.

    1. I love it! I had a lot of fun with my sister too. Kickball and making necklaces from chains of flowers (those “flowers” that most grownups call flowering weeds) ….fun times!

  5. Hum, let’s see I had so many good ones, but I loved my Farah Fawcett styling head. My mom still has it in her basement. Of course, her eyebrows and eyelashes have been removed (I removed them with fingernail polish remover!!). I also loved my Darci Barbie doll.

  6. My favorite had to be my “Pocket Fisherman”. I could carry that fishing pole everywhere. It was easy to carry on my bike and around the army base where I grew up there were several fishing “honey” holes. Pack it in a backpack, grab a PB N J and off we went for the day. I think Mom was glad I was out of her hair as well.

  7. I know that I am a little bit strange, but when I was growing up (65 yrs young!), my favorite toys were a “Pinto Pony” which was a blow up horse that you could actually sit on and rock, and a set of cowboy guns!! I wore those guns everywhere! I was just such a tomboy. Played out side all day long and had to be dragged into the house at night. Of course, I ended up going to the Police Academy and became a Sheriff Deputy and am now retired, but still work a couple of days a week as a Reserve Deputy. Who could have guessed!

Chrissy, I would love to win one of those $50 gift certificates for my grandbabies (now 9 & 15!!), but still little boys at heart. Would give me a great jump on Christmas shopping! Like you, I always start early. But that 15 yr old is sure getting hard to buy for-too many electronic thinggies on his list1
