As the only girl with two older brothers, I loved my barbies! My mom loved them also and managed to talk me into getting the holiday barbies for years after I had outgrown them!
Well, mine is going to be a little different!! We lived rather meagerly, so there wasn’t alot of toys at our house. Mom and even Grandma used to keep me pretty busy making “Mud Pies”. They were very generous with their aluminum pie pans, and I would spend hours making “mud pies” for the neighborhood. There was always a doll at Christmas time, and birthday’s were pretty practical with much needed clothes and shoes….but it was still my aluminum pans I used the most. I would make various kinds of “mud pies” using other ingredients such as leaves from the trees, flowers, grass, or even different weeds. It was fun, and I NEVER missed having expensive toys. I live about 2100 miles from grandkids, but when we are together, I try to teach them how to make mud pies too. Even the boys enjoy it!!

I don’t think I had a special toy….I remember that we got toys twice a year. On our birthdays and at Christmas. Since my birthday is December, that was and still is a magical time of the year for me. So whenever December came, whatever I got was my favorite toy! Thumberlina, Chatty Cathy, Barbie, whatever I got was the favorite. And then the next December the new one would be added and played with along with her “sisters” of pass Decembers. And now that magical time of December means just as much to me and passed to my children and my grandchildren.
My favorite toys were my Barbies. My son loves superheroes.
My favorite toy as a child was my Barbie Dream House and my yellow Hoppity Hop Bouncer
I remember all the barbie stuff camper three story with the elevator car etc, but I loved my Dapper Dan…with all the fun stuff to do on his clothing…zip button tie etc…that was when I was little bity…fun memories!
