It’s that time of year again.

Cotton is in bloom…

Apples are being picked

and the last bit of summer is ours for the taking!

and MAYBE sharing.. 🙂

But you know what else is right around the corner? It’s time to start thinking about our Halloween and Harvest costumes! I’ve recently been introduced to a wonderful company called Sensational Beginnings. They are a toy company that offers educational toys, that stimulate the imagination, the mind, and the senses!I don’t know about you, but if I had a dime for every time I spent money on plastic toys that barely outlived the life of the cardboard box they came in, I’d be a wealthy woman today!

I love the toys at Sensational Beginnings and I know you and your child will, too.

As a special offer JUST to Southern Plate readers,

Sensational Beginnings is offering a 10% Discount on all orders over $75.00 through September 20th, at 11:59 PM.

To get this exclusive discount, enter the code SOUTHERNPLATE at checkout. Click here to shop.

I always like to start buying Christmas the moment fall hits and I get it a little at a time to make it more budget friendly, so this is a great opportunity for you to do that.

They also have an EXTENSIVE Costume department. Katy Rose was thrilled when she first laid eyes on this pink super girl costume:

We rounded it out with the Strawberry Shortcake Wig. Of course is Super Girl is Super, it only stands to reason that she’d have pink hair (according to my Katy Rose).

Bradybug will be going the Deluxe Iron Man route this year…

Even though I REALLY tried to talk him into this one – if it was in my size I’d soooooooo be wearing it!

In addition to offering us an exclusive discount code, Sensational Beginnings is also offering an exclusive giveaway!

TEN Lucky Southern Plate Family Members

  1. My favorite toy was the tupperware shape sorter. I would spend hours putting the shapes into the ball and opening it to start all over. Now finally at 42 I am going to be a first time mom on January 1, 2011 and I want my little one to have only the best. This sounds like the best place to start.

    Thank you for your site.
    Jennifer

  2. My fav was my “kid sister” doll — you know the “my buddy” dolls and “kid sister” dolls?? I loved mine, I dragged her around everywhere!!!! 😀 ah nostalgia…

Love your site, fellow UNA grad! 🙂
    Have a great day~!!
    Jess

  3. I loved playing with my Mrs. Beasley Doll. I still have her in the attic! :o)

Posting your link to my page.

  4. My favorite toy was Barbie and fabric scraps. My Mom made all of our clothes, she would give me the scraps to make clothes for my Barbie. I did not sew, just pinned and tucked. She always had a new wardrobe!

  5. I honestly can’t think of my favorite toy! I played with all of mine. My brother Nathan and I use to play with a few of my stuffed animals, and would just have a blast playing with them.
My son Maddy, he loves his little red fire truck! He would carry that thing to the store if I’d let him!…lol…
Hope you have lots of fun with this give away! 🙂

  6. I have to say that I played with Barbie more than anything. I had the most beautiful clothing for the Barbie. An elderly friend of the family would make the most georgous gowns and clothing for me. I would fashion housing out of old cardboard boxes that I would apply fabric for curtains and rugs. I would make my own furniture using stuff around the house. It was so much fun!
