One of my favorite things to cook for my family is chicken and dumplings. It is such a comfort food and my family loves them.
From another good ole southern gal to all of you…one of my most requested dishes for almost all family gatherings; Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, all are a good reason to have Fried Potatoe Salad. Peel and dice twice as many potatoes as you would for regular potatoe salad. We’ll say a full five pounds for recipes sake. Boil the potatoes till just tender, drain and spread potatoes out to dry. Once dry, deep fry the potatoes until golden and crispy, this will take about 25 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Mix dressing of about 1/2 cup mayo and 2-3 Tbsp of honey dijon mustard. Toss potatoes with dressing and add 1/2 cup bacon bits and shredded cheddar cheese. Oh my goodness is it good. I’ll be taking this to Mama’s on Christmas Eve; especially for my niece, Hannah Beth. Merry Christmas everyone! Tina
All time favorite has got to be chicken fried steak with cream gravy! The kids only get to contribute with forks and stomaches, but they smile all the while. =-)
FUDGE!
Hey Christy,
One of my favorite recipes to make is called Chocolate Rolls. My husband’s mother made them for him growing up, and he loves them. She never was one to write down her recipes, so mine is probably not quite the same. I bake them in a Corning ware dish that belonged to her, so I think of her and all the wonderful memories from her kitchen. She and my father-in-law have both gone on to be with the Lord, but I’ll always remember them.
A Thanksgiving and Christmas must have for our family is a Sweet Potatoe Casserole. It is from the Mobile AL Junior League Cookbook. We have made since I was in High School. We Alabama girls love our food and love to cook.
Any recipe is fun to make with my little girl, Maddie. Last night and this morning we’ve been making your Holly Jollies. She had so much almond bark on her mouth last night, it looked like she hat a goatee.
