January Archives 2008-[year]

family bridges

Good Morning! Today I thought I’d pull together all of my posts from past Januarys on SouthernPlate.com and put them in one convenient place for you should anyone want to catch up or see what they might have missed. I’m planning on doing this with each month as it arrives throughout the year so stay tuned and make sure you subscribe by email to avoid missing anything. Meanwhile, If you’re hankering for something new or even familiar tastes from the old days, you’re sure to find it on this list.

I look forward to chatting with you in the comments so be sure and drop a “hidy” if you’ve got the time!

Gratefully,

If any of the links don’t work, that is a mistake on my part and I’ll try to get it fixed as soon as I’m aware of it. Please let me know in the comments and then use the search box in the top right hand corner of SouthernPlate (beneath the title area) to search for the recipe by name.

  1. I love this monthly archive! Please do one every month! It’s a great help reminding me of some recipes I haven’t made in a while or ones I meant to make of yours that I had forgotten about. 🙂

  2. Christy, why won’t it let me put this on Pintrest? I follow you, but thought this would be nice to have all in one place.

    Thanks,
    Scarlet

    1. I appreciate you pinning my stuff, it helps me a lot! There is no reason on my site why it wouldn’t let you pin it. Try refreshing your browser and then wait until it fully loads and hover over the picture, a pin button should come up.

  3. I love your stories, encouraging thoughts and your recipes. Is there anyway to save favorites to
a recipe box since ziplist is no longer available? I’m from Cleveland, TN. I enjoyed reading about
your family trip to Chattanooga (we’re right next door).

    1. Hey Sheilah! Thank you so much for your kindness, I’m so glad you’re here. Unfortunately, Ziplist dumped us all rather suddenly and there currently isn’t anything out there that I trust with my readers that doesn’t cost you all to use. Since Southern Plate is free, I can’t justify y’all having to pay someone else to save my recipes. If an option comes up, preferably self hosted so I can rely on it, I will sure implement it. It will likely just take time.
I LOVE Chattanooga and have been to Cleveland several times as well!

  4. Hello Christy, I love your blog, love your books, but I don’t like oats or oatmeal in foods. Is there something I can substitute in it’s place? So many recipes call for this ingredient. Looking forward to book number 3. Thanks.

  5. Christy, first off beautiful family picture. I love your blog I mean everything about it, the laughter, the jostling of memories, the wit, the charm, the inspiration, the recipes. I love the fact your recipes are alcohol free as I do not have or purchase any type of alcohol. Just a decision I made in my life. I never wanted my daughter to look back and say she learned nasty habits from me. No she didn’t, I don’t smoke drink, do drugs nor curse. Just a mom trying to raise my daughter in a Godly way. Also I love that everything doesn’t include rosemary I think it tastes like a pine tree. Just give me a bottle of dollar store Italian seasoning and I’m a happy camper. I love that your recipes don’t require an expensive herb we would never use again. Christy you’re the best I’m anxiously waiting for the 3rd book. You are such a blessing to me your letters always come at a time when I need them the most. I can never thank you enough for all you do. i hope God blesses you as much as you do me.

    1. I have to admit to bursting out in laughter as soon as I got to the part about rosemary – because my mother says the EXACT same thing!!! Marsha, if we aren’t already related, I’m adopting you because you belong in my family!
Thank you for such wonderful encouragement and kindness today, I appreciate it more than you could ever know!

  6. Christy, I LOVE this idea! Thank you so much! I only discovered your site a little over a year ago, so I’ve missed many recipe even though I often spend an hour or more looking around here and finding wonderful recipes to try.

This is such a great idea. I’m looking forward to these monthy posts all year. Thanks, you’re the best : )

  7. Hello Cristy,

I’m fairly new to your site and just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the warmth and sincerity that flows around it. The recipes look very intriguing and I’m looking forward to trying at least some of them out.

Thank-you for your thoughtful and friendly nature of your posts,

All the best to you and to your Family ,
