How To Make Apple Pie
Don’t you just hate it when you taste something positively divine that a friend made, ask for the recipe, and they refuse to give it? How awkward is that? I have always found it somewhat rude and therefore have made a point to share any and every recipe that has ever been requested of me.
There is only one recipe which has tempted me to stray from this policy, my apple pie. ~Takes a deep breath~ So, today, to force myself to remain generous, polite, and kind to anyone interested, I am posting not only my apple pie recipe but a photo tutorial as well.
This is actually quite easy. The most difficult and time consuming part is simply peeling and “chipping” the apples. In no time at all you will be wowing folks with your apple pie. That is all that I ask, don’t say you got this recipe off of a blog or website or make any other excuses when someone compliments it (although feel free to send them to my site!). When (not if, but when) someone tells you how divine your pie is, I want you to smile graciously and say “thank you”. This is now your apple pie recipe.
Starring roles: Sugar, Apples (at least two different kinds, one being Granny Smith), Lemon Juice, Corn Starch, Vanilla, Pie Crusts (You can make your own, I just use Pilsbury), Allspice, Cinnamon, and a wee bit of apple juice.
Melt some butter and brush it over the crust then sprinkle a bit of sugar on top to make it even prettier!
Ingredients
- 1 Package Pilsbury Pie Crusts
- 9-10 apples two different kinds, one Granny Smith
- 1/4 Cup Apple Juice
- 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
- 3/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Corn Starch
- dash of salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425. Roll one pie crust out into pie plate. Peel and chip apples into large mixing bowl. In separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients and stir to blend. Combine all liquid ingredients in another bowl and stir to blend. Pour dry and liquid over apples and stir well.
- Place in oven and bake 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cover entire pie with foil. Cut slits in center of foil and peel back so mainly the outer edge is covered (to prevent it from burning). Reduce heat to 375 and continue baking for 45-55 minutes or until golden.

Hey there, I just wanted to posted a comment since I used your pie to make this past weekend. First of all I would like to say how much I DON’T cook, nor have I EVER baked anything(21 yrs young) My boyfriend has been on my case lately to get in the kitchen and learn how to whip somethings up( he usually cooks) well….. his face in utter surprise when he came home from work to find dinner on the table and a DELICIOUS apple pie in the oven baking.. it was PRICELESS! The pie was so tasty and perfect!! My first time baking was a true success and I actually enjoyed it!! aside from my doorman coming up to my apartment ringing my bell thinking there was a fire( a little juice spilled in the oven and smoke went every where) i told him no fire- just me cooking =) he later enjoyed a slice of pie also!
Anyway, i’d just like to say thanks again for sharing this pie and I looked forward to saving your recipe and making it again!!!

I made this pie last night. I realized as soon as I got home from the store that I had forgotten to buy apple juice. I didn’t have any juice other than grapefruit, which seemed like a terrible substitute, so I substituted a sweetish light red wine instead. It turned out delicious!

Having never made an apple pie from scratch I have complete confidence that this pie will be the best ever! We have just put our pie into the oven and are DYING to have a slice. Alas we must wait until tomorrow so this can go with our dinner.

Hello there… I know this blog has been up quite a while so I don’t know if you will even get this comment but I want to let you know that I am going to make your pie recipe for Thanksgiving tomorrow! I am a college student in southern california and don’t have the money to drive to my parents for Thanksgiving this year. Since my boyfriend’s family is financial struggling right now I have invited them all over for dinner tomorrow. This is my 1st time ever cooking Thanksgiving dinner so you can only imagine how anxious I feel to be making it for my future in-laws!! :o)
I just want to say thank you for not only sharing your recipe but taking the time to make the step-by-step pictures. I will let you know how this turns out — wish me luck!
Oh if you happen to get this today/tonight/whenever, by can I literally use any other kind of apple besides granny smith? Or does the 2nd type also have to be a green apple?
