Muddy Diet Dr Pepper
It would be awesome beyond belief if you could pin this Muddy Diet Dr Pepper to your pinterest boards!
Public Declaration time: I’ve become an addict. Alright, I Can live without it but I don’t want to!
It all started when I made friends with these two sweet ladies who share my love of fun non-alcoholic drinks. We ended up in the middle of a cherry orchard in Michigan at a lovely dinner where they were serving all manner of rotted grape juices and as I came up with a concoction of lemonade and cherry juice for us we got to talking about other lovely mixed drinks and Sara and Kate asked me “Have you tried the dirty diet coke?”
My interest was piqued. Dirty Diet Coke? I knew they didn’t drink either so it had to be something good. As soon as I got home I looked it up on their site and set out to make my own version- using Diet Dr Pepper! (Y’all saw that coming, right?)
But then I got to the part where Sara added in half and half and I thought “This just sounds odd. I don’t know if that would be good.”
Two seconds later I vowed to trust anything Sara or Kate say for the rest of my life.
While they splash their half and half in, I’ve found that I like everything better if I give it a little stir and muddy the whole thing up.
Muddy Diet Dr Pepper was born!
This is the next best thing to having fairies clean your house while you sleep!
It’s like a trip to the beach for under a dollar!
It’s like a personal, warm hug directly from Heaven to Diet Dr Pepper lovers everywhere!
Let’s make us one!
You’ll need: Coconut Syrup (I’m using sugar free), Diet Dr Pepper, and Half and Half.
The Half and half makes this, in my opinion. It sounded really weird to me at first (okay so this whole thing sounded weird to me at first) but Sara was right, half and half takes it up a notch.
I found the coconut syrup on Amazon (click here) but I’m sure it is for sale somewhere in some store.
If you know where this is please tell me in the comments below because I’d kinda like to know.
Fill your glass with ice.
Add about 3 tablespoons of coconut syrup.
Add about half of your Diet Dr Pepper.
Stir just slightly.
Fill the glass up almost to the top with Diet Dr Pepper, save about 1 inch of head space.
Add a splash of half and half.
Stir lightly to muddy it all up.
ENJOY!
And I do mean ENJOY!
This tastes unlike anything I’ve ever known and I dearly love it!

Torani keeps coming up with new flavors such as bacon (figure out a recipe using that, Christy) and salted caramel. I got the salted caramel from Amazon. It is wonderful in homemade hot cocoa made with half and half! Yum!
Hey Christy! Love your recipes and stories! You seem to be such a sweet, genuine person, and I’ve always appreciated your laid back, ‘live and let live’ attitude. I must, however, make mention of your “rotted grape juices” comment. While you choose not to partake of alcoholic beverages, please show some tolerance for those of us who do enjoy an occasional glass of wine. Wine, as opposed to hard alcohol, enhances many different types of food. You are entitled to abstain, just as I am entitled not to. Enjoy your well-deserved vacation!
Thank you for being so sweet about it Nancy. I can see I offended you and that was certainly not my intent, I sincerely apologize to you for that.
I say that in fun, as most everyone I know drinks wine (and many of them even have fancy little refrigerators for it built into their homes!). My husband and I tried to find a wine we could toast each other with before we got married and tried and tried but to us, it still tasted like rotted grape juice 🙂 When I say this, I am referring, of course, to the fermenting process.
We were told we needed more sophisticated taste buds and we can gladly accept that. In the end, we ended up toasting with white grape juice and our unsophisticated taste buds were singing! We have declared our house wine to be sweet tea 🙂
Not drinking is a personal conviction we have for a multitude of reasons but I’ve seldom known two random people who had the same personal conviction and our convictions are for us to follow – we don’t expect others to.
For some reason though, folks who don’t drink usually don’t realize that there are all sorts of FUN drinks we can mix up without alcohol, too!
I appreciate your sophisticated taste buds and I hope I have explained my humor and where I am coming from 🙂
Thanks, Christy!! You explained your intent PERFECTLY! Not hearing a person’s voice/inflection or seeing facial expressions can sometimes lead to misunderstanding in our techno-communications world. I get it. Again, have a blast on your vaca. Look forward to seeing some great family-fun pics!
Enjoy your unplugging!!
Our local Drug Emporium carries a HUGE selection of syrups. You might check you health food stores also all of ours have a selection.
I’m on my way over! I love me some Diet Coke, but I think the Dirty Diet DP might be a winner this way 😉
When I was a child, we used to put milk in Barq’s Root Beer! This takes me back. Did you ever have a Barq’s in the glass bottles, Christy?
One of our big treats after school on Friday was to get to drink coke or root beer out of a glass bottle. Now, keep in mind that we couldn’t afford three cokes though! So Mama would save and wash out glass bottles and buy one coke, then divide it up among the bottles she had cleaned. That way, we all got to drink the coke out of the bottle 🙂
LOVE THIS!!!
World Market carries the Torani syrups! Cheers!
