Muddy Diet Dr Pepper
It would be awesome beyond belief if you could pin this Muddy Diet Dr Pepper to your pinterest boards!
Public Declaration time: I’ve become an addict. Alright, I Can live without it but I don’t want to!
It all started when I made friends with these two sweet ladies who share my love of fun non-alcoholic drinks. We ended up in the middle of a cherry orchard in Michigan at a lovely dinner where they were serving all manner of rotted grape juices and as I came up with a concoction of lemonade and cherry juice for us we got to talking about other lovely mixed drinks and Sara and Kate asked me “Have you tried the dirty diet coke?”
My interest was piqued. Dirty Diet Coke? I knew they didn’t drink either so it had to be something good. As soon as I got home I looked it up on their site and set out to make my own version- using Diet Dr Pepper! (Y’all saw that coming, right?)
But then I got to the part where Sara added in half and half and I thought “This just sounds odd. I don’t know if that would be good.”
Two seconds later I vowed to trust anything Sara or Kate say for the rest of my life.
While they splash their half and half in, I’ve found that I like everything better if I give it a little stir and muddy the whole thing up.
Muddy Diet Dr Pepper was born!

It’s like a personal, warm hug directly from Heaven to Diet Dr Pepper lovers everywhere!
Let’s make us one!
You’ll need: Coconut Syrup (I’m using sugar free), Diet Dr Pepper, and Half and Half.
The Half and half makes this, in my opinion. It sounded really weird to me at first (okay so this whole thing sounded weird to me at first) but Sara was right, half and half takes it up a notch.
I found the coconut syrup on Amazon (click here) but I’m sure it is for sale somewhere in some store.
If you know where this is please tell me in the comments below because I’d kinda like to know.
Fill your glass with ice.
Add about 3 tablespoons of coconut syrup.
Add about half of your Diet Dr Pepper.
Stir just slightly.
Fill the glass up almost to the top with Diet Dr Pepper, save about 1 inch of head space.
Add a splash of half and half.
Stir lightly to muddy it all up.
ENJOY!
And I do mean ENJOY!
This tastes unlike anything I’ve ever known and I dearly love it!

When I saw the coconut syrup included I began to worry. But really, after trying so many of your recipes (I’m here regularly and have both your cookbook and magazine) and loving everything. Too many to rave about each one but made the double Dr. Pepper cupcakes over the weekend, they are to die for! I gotta trust your judgement when it comes to foods and flavors.
off to find coconut syrup…
walmart sells the coconut syrup. and coconut rum would really be the bomb!!! you could cut the calories even more with just whole milk.
Nothing healthy about this concoction. All artificial sweeteners have been scientifically proven to be unhealthy & to actually promote weight GAIN. Half-&-Half has more carbs (translate: sugar) than heavy cream. Much better would be using canned coconut milk, a few drops of liquid stevia for sweetener & a splash of regular (not diet) soda.
Mmmmm….yes, I can believe this will be luscious! Back in the “olden days” when I was a teenager, my first job was at the Dairy Queen. We had a drink called a Pink Lady which was a combination of 7-Up, vanilla syrup and whole milk. Even with just milk, it was wonderful! I’m going to try this, only with Diet-Rite because I’ve cut aspartame totally out of my diet. Too many health negatives, plus when I found out how it was discovered — well, let’s just say, I don’t want it. Anyway, being a long time Coke drinker (real Coke), I set about to look for a substitute w/o aspartame and found Diet-Rite! No caffeine, no aspartame, sugarless! Will most definitely try this. Thanks, Christy!!
Whooee, this sounds so good. I think this would be good with pineapple soda (you can find it sugar free at Publix) the coconut Torani syrup & the half n half. Yummo!!!! Gonna have to try this!!!!
Here in Texas we have a whole AISLE of Torani syrups at our Drug Emporium. Not sure if you have those in AL, but that’s where I get mine for super cheap! 🙂
Oh, Christy, you make me laugh! I nearly choked on my Special K when I read about the rotted grape juice! My husband and I don’t drink either and we toasted each other with 7-up at our wedding. We’ve been married 40 years so it didn’t jinx us like our friends told us it would. We’re still married and NONE of them are.
I buy Torani at World Market. I don’t usually like sugar-free stuff but I can’t tell the difference with these. They were on sale last week for 2/$10.00. I love coconut so I’ll have to go back for some and try this! I wonder if the bacon flavor would work in pancakes and waffles………?
