My #BeTheGood Challenge
You see, I was raised by a Mama who taught me that it was my responsibility to put good into the world. When times got hard for us, she showed me the importance of helping others who had it even harder. When someone was down, she showed me how to lift them up with my words and acts of kindness and consideration. Then, whenever the world seemed to be going a little crazy, she’d point out the good – and point out the void where I could do more to increase the goodness there.
I was taught to Be the Good. And I realize that it is up to me to teach my kids the same. So today, I’m sharing a Be The Good morning Katy and I had together.
We got up and got ready a little early and then went out right after breakfast for Katy to perform some random acts of kindness. For starters, we paid a visit to the grocery store. There, Katy filled her buggy with some of her favorite goodies for us to donate to the local food pantry. Now another child who may not have had the opportunity will get to enjoy those same foods my Katy loves so much.
Then, we headed over to Katy’s favorite shopping place, Dollar Tree :).
There, we left little surprise dollar bills with notecards attached to them in the toy section as a surprise for kids to find.
Lastly, we went by the local red box and taped sealed bags of microwave popcorn, along with a note, to the machine.
Katy Rose and I got a lot of pleasure out of being the good today!
I love this! I would like to do this with my sons. What a wonderful idea. 🙂
I hope you get a chance to Kasey, you will all be so blessed by the experience!
Popcorn with your Redbox!!! That’s awesome. We had another blogger do something similar with a $5 bill inside her Redbox (and Redbox even responded to her Instagram post about it… that’s pretty awesome, huh?).
We really appreciate you joining our #BeTheGood campaign. Your stories along with the other amazing stories from our blogger friends are helping boost this campaign. We’re seeing great success. In fact, we’ve already raised close to $14,000 for Girls, Inc! Yes!!!
Christy, when my daughter turned 19 she and a friend went around the community sharing 19 random acts of kindness. Things like taking breakfast to the firehouse, filling up a penny container at a local market, things like that. Was a blessing for the giver as well as the receiver.
Can tell by the smile on Katy, she gets it ☺️. Have a great day.
