National Cornbread Festival April 29 & 30, 2017!

Y’all, it’s that time of year again! The National Cornbread Festival is about to take place in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. A weekend of family friendly entertainment, food, rides, shopping, and all manner of fun.

The crowds really turn up for this one, but it’s spread out so there is plenty of room to enjoy yourself and explore the festival. I consider this to be at least a half day event if you really want to see it all but most folks plan on staying a full day or the entire weekend. If you want to try that out, book your hotel now because they fill up fast. I won’t be able to join them this year so that is one extra hotel room for ya!

This is one you want to bring your kids, grannies, aunts, and uncles to as there is something for everyone!

But of course, my favorite part is the Cornbread Cookoff. I’ve had an awful lot of fun being a judge for the past five years or so. I’m pictured here with my buddy, Stacey Little, of Southern Bite. The cornbread cookoff pits home cooks together with their original recipes featuring Martha White cornbread mix!

So today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite Martha White Cornbread recipes with you to get you all geared up and ready for the festival!

Cornbread Omelets are AMAZING! I first had them at the Cornbread Festival and make them as a special country indulgence for myself from time to time now. If you want to intrigue and impress your family, serve up some of these!

  1. I am driving up from Tuscaloosa after reading about it on your site. I will be staying in Kimball. Any tips for first timers? Suggestions?

    1. Enjoy the festival food! There are some really unique items there, including the famous cornbread salad. Warning: It looks really bad but tastes wonderful :). There isn’t a lot in S Pittsburg but make sure you check out the Lodge store for great deals on cast iron and if you decide to head up to Chattanooga for supper one night I recommend the City Cafe downtown – make sure you eat dessert!

      1. Thank you, Christy! We look forward to a fun weekend. Hate that you won’t be attending this year. I’ll be sure to eat extra since there will be once less in the crowd

  2. Oh no! I was hoping to see you next weekend. Maybe next year?? Of course, I hope it isn’t next year before I see you again. I swear one of these day’s imma judge that cornbread cookoff!
