November Favorites (Sawdust Pie, Cinnamon Buns, Wedding Cookies)
As I enter my third November with SouthernPlate.com, I thought I’d bring you some past November favorites from the site. Hope you enjoy them!
Sawdust Pie
If you’ve never had Sawdust pie before, I really do feel it could become a fast family favorite. The taste is rich and buttery, and whipped cream and sliced bananas set it off to sheer perfection.
Homemade Cinnabuns – the easy way
These cinnamon rolls have power behind them – real power. You could pretty much get anything you wanted if you showed up toting a plate of these babies, warm with icing oozing down the side.
Mexican Wedding Cookies
My mother used to make these especially for me when I was a little girl because I loved the Danish Wedding Cookies that were sold in the grocery stores. They were a bit pricey, so she made these for me instead – which were MUCH better anyway!
THANK YOU for supporting the book and SouthernPlate.com!
I love what I do and am forever grateful to you for allowing me to continue to do it.
Dear Family,
I’ve made it to the home stretch of the book tour! This is my last week of heavy travel away from the kids and we are really looking forward to getting back to whatever our new normal ends up being. I’m looking forward to being home to get them ready for school and tuck them in at night. I’ve had a wonderful time getting to meet you all, but I am soooooooo meant to be at home with my family.
As I head out to Fairhope and Birmingham Alabama this week, you can watch for me tomorrow on Talk of Alabama in Birmingham and come meet me at either of those book signings. I have a hug with your name on it! For more information, please click here.
Be sure to check out what I’ve added December 29th! It’s a special surprise. I’ll have another surprise to put up there soon, too! A lot of people have read about that surprise date and asked if I’m bringing the family with me. I’m actually going to fly in and fly back home as soon as I can. 1. It’s very expensive to fly four people up there. 2. As beautiful as New York can be at Christmas and New Years, Alabama has all that I need.
Thank you for lifting me up and loving me back. 🙂
Gratefully,
Christy
Every person ever created is so special that their presence in the world makes it richer and fuller and more wonderful than it could have ever been without them.
Hi Christy,
I am happy for you to be home soon! My daughter just introduced me to your website a week ago. She and I made Apple Fritters the other night, I swear I gained 5 lbs, but I convinced myself they were good for me because they are made with fresh fruit! Tonight I made your fried cabbage and hashbrown casserole, well I think my husband has hurt himself, lol. ( I even saw him eating the raw cabbage as he was chopping it for me, I knew this would be a hit!) Anyways, see all southern people ramble, I just wanted to tell you I really enjoy your web site and hope to get your cook book soon. Blessings to you and your family and wishing you very happy holidays!
The cinnabuns sound delicious! There’s nothing better than a good, gooey cinnamon roll. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
Wow! I can’t believe it’s been this long since I met you! My sister ran across you way back in the beginning, and shared you with me. Ever since then “Southern Plate” has been written on MANY a menu here. I talk about “Christy” like you’re my friend next door! You are even part of my kids daily language. Southern Plate was the first food blog I had ever seen or heard of. What a WONDERFUL world it brought me!
I so enjoy your many of the recipes are food that I grew up with. Wish you had made Jacksonville, FL a part of your tour-we love to cook here too!
Your Thanksgiving recipes will no doubt make me sad-I just lost my Mom 4 weeks ago, and we had the same closeness that you exhibit with your Mom. The recipes will no doubt bring back many memories, and I know that they will indeed be bitter sweet. My Mom was a wonderful Southern lady and cook, and no doubt has cooked many of everyones’ Thanksgiving favorites. For future Thanksgivings, I too will be recreating many of her good ol’ Southern recipes, with perhaps some new ones that you will be sharing.
So glad you will soon be able to spend more time with your family. Thanks for re-sharing these yummy looking recipes. So excited out the Dec. 29 date. Can’t wait to hear about the other surprise. How long do we have to wait in suspense?
