Slow Cooker Caramel Apple Cider
I love to see my kid’s faces light up when they come home to wonderful smells filling the house. And slow cooked apple anything is sure to make your house smell as good as it gets this side of heaven. As my kids have gotten older they have come to love “custom” warm drinks, like the ones served in coffee houses and such. This slow cooked apple cider is the perfect treat at the end of a school day or on a lazy Saturday afternoon. During the colder months, I make a batch on the weekend and store whatever we don’t finish in the fridge to quickly heat up after school or for weeknight treats. Don’t let the simplicity fool ya, though. This Caramel Apple Cider is definitely party worthy as well!
I hope you get to make it soon and enjoy some slow sippin’ time with your loved ones during these cold spells!
Since this is such a simple recipe, I’m keeping it quick with the photos today. You basically just dump it all in and stir 🙂
Ingredients
- 64 ounces apple juice
- 12 ounce jar caramel
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Instructions
- Place apple juice in 5 or 6 quart slow cooker. Stir in spices and caramel and place heat on low. After one hour, stir well again.
- Continue cooking on low 3 more hours.
- Serve in mugs topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, if desired.
*If you're in a hurry and have time to stand over the stove, you can make this in a pot just by heating over medium heat, stirring constantly, and once it comes to a simmer, allow to simmer for thirty minutes, stirring often.

I made this today in the slow cooker. The caramel syrup had a terrible “curdled” look… so unappetizing! Taste was good but I won’t make this again! Such a shame, it sounded soooo good.
Sounds like from what you said it tasted good too :). In the instructions, I encourage people to stir it so that the caramel syrup dissolves. Having always done it that way, I’ve never encountered any curdling in appearance or texture. Hope the next recipe you try turns out better!

Hey there Christy; can you give a sister a hand? Are the cloves and allspice ground or whole? Love ya!
Would love to have this right now!
It would hit the spot on this cold morning wouldn’t it Peggy?!
This sounds really, really good! I like your fresh apple garnish 🙂 Wonder if this might make a good Super Bowl Sunday beverage. The guys will of course be drinking beer but maybe some apple cider would be nice as well? I am admittedly just looking for an excuse to make this!
Right now I have your Crunchy Refrigerator Salad sitting on the counter for the allotted 1 hour, then it’s going in the fridge 😀
I think it would be the perfect beverage for the big game!! 😉
Making this weekend! YUM! Can’t wait 🙂
I hope you enjoy it Kristen!!
