Slow Cooker Caramel Apple Cider
I love to see my kid’s faces light up when they come home to wonderful smells filling the house. And slow cooked apple anything is sure to make your house smell as good as it gets this side of heaven. As my kids have gotten older they have come to love “custom” warm drinks, like the ones served in coffee houses and such. This slow cooked apple cider is the perfect treat at the end of a school day or on a lazy Saturday afternoon. During the colder months, I make a batch on the weekend and store whatever we don’t finish in the fridge to quickly heat up after school or for weeknight treats. Don’t let the simplicity fool ya, though. This Caramel Apple Cider is definitely party worthy as well!
I hope you get to make it soon and enjoy some slow sippin’ time with your loved ones during these cold spells!
Since this is such a simple recipe, I’m keeping it quick with the photos today. You basically just dump it all in and stir 🙂
Ingredients
- 64 ounces apple juice
- 12 ounce jar caramel
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Instructions
- Place apple juice in 5 or 6 quart slow cooker. Stir in spices and caramel and place heat on low. After one hour, stir well again.
- Continue cooking on low 3 more hours.
- Serve in mugs topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, if desired.
*If you're in a hurry and have time to stand over the stove, you can make this in a pot just by heating over medium heat, stirring constantly, and once it comes to a simmer, allow to simmer for thirty minutes, stirring often.

Now this is a winner!
What kind of caramel do you use? (Please see previous February post.)
Thanks!
I use caramel ice cream topping.
Thank you so much for responding. The taste was wonderful…I just knew I had done something differently that you did. I look forward to trying it again now that cooler weather is coming.
Ummmm, this needs to be in my crockpot. Like, now. Except that I don’t have apple juice or caramel. So, this needs to be in my crockpot tomorrow.
LOL!!! You taking the time to write this put a definite bright spot in my afternoon! thanks!
I’ve been following you and your blog for years. How did I miss this great concoction the 1st time you gave it to us?!?
Anyway…….thanks Christy.
Apple recipes just in time! Thanks for being there for us lol
I made this for a baby shower this month thinking it would give my guests a choice of a cold or hot drink and be a nice alternative to punch. It tasted good, but I also had the problem of it looking curdled and unappetizing. I used Dulce de Leche for the caramel – should I have used caramel ice cream topping instead? I noticed you referred to stirring in the caramel syrup in a previous comment, but the instructions said to use a jar of caramel. I really want to know what I did wrong because the flavor was delicious.
I made this today in the crockpot and the flavor is great but the spices did not dissolve into the mixture. I followed the directions except my crockpot cooks fast so I turned it to warm the last 20 min. Any suggestions?
