Southern Plate Book Debut at UNA

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had at the Southern Plate Tailgating cooking show at UNA this past week. In all of the two years of writing SouthernPlate.com, that was the FIRST time I ever got to get together with a group of Southern Plate Family Members and it was an amazing experience. This was a one of a kind event that I could have never pulled off without all of the hard work of the UNA Culinary students and HES Department. We had Culinary majors working on the food and serving, interior design majors designing and building the set, and all of the other Human Environmental Science students worked on PR, legwork, and general running around craziness to pull it all together. When all was said and done, I felt it went off without a hitch and we all just enjoyed our time together as a family.
This is the line to get their books signed. You know my biggest fear was that no one would show up, that all of this had just been in my imagination for the past two years! So imagine how my heart just about burst when I looked up and saw a line. Some folks brought me five and six books each!

Katy stayed at a friend’s house. She’s not as into the public attention right now so I try to be as sensitive as possible to that.
