Recipe Ingredients

  • Brewed Red Diamond coffee
  • Granulated sugar

How to Make Sweet Coffee-Flavored Syrup

Place the brewed coffee and sugar in a small saucepot over medium-high heat.

Bring to a boil while stirring constantly. Once at a boil, continue to stir and boil for three minutes, then remove the saucepot from the heat.

Allow the syrup to cool slightly before placing it in a container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a month.

Recipe Notes

  • Here are some more serving suggestions for your coffee-flavored syrup:
    • Add it to the hot and cold milk of your choice (can be whole milk or coconut milk, for example) to make coffee milk.
    • Drizzle it on baked goods like pies or the coffee butter cake mentioned below.
    • A fun party idea is to add it to cocktails.
    • Drizzle it over pancakes, French toast, waffles, or crepes instead of maple syrup.
    • Instead of chocolate sauce, add this coffee syrup to your next bowl of ice cream or ice cream sundae.
  • Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to your coffee-flavored syrup to enhance the flavor.
  • For a different flavor, you can substitute granulated sugar for brown sugar. Other options include Splenda, pure cane sugar, and coconut sugar. Do what works for you.

Cup of coffee.

Start your day with a little boost!

Of course, every day at my house begins with a pot of coffee. I usually have it brewed by 4:00 each morning and I’m on my second cup by the time my husband wakes up. It’s a warm and wonderful way to start my day as I sit in a quiet house, sip my coffee, and mentally prepare for the day.

Use it as a reminder to slow down

My husband and I are afternoon/evening coffee drinkers as well. Once we finish supper, we like to go sit down together with a cup and talk over our day, discuss what we’ve been reading, and gather our thoughts as we unwind together. 1. Beautiful picture Brady. Coffee syrup is an amazing idea. My mind is racing thinking of all the ways I can use it. Brady has a real gift for photography.

  2. Hi Christy,
These recipes sound intriguing and am anxious to try all of them. Just wondering, which type of Red Diamond Coffee do you use, i.e., Columbian, Arabica, Dark Roast, Medium Roast, etc.? My local grocery where I trade doesn’t carry Red Diamond, so just curious as to any other brand you might have used that you recommend that would be comparable to the Red Diamond you use?

  3. Yumalicious! Guess what we’re making tomorrow??!? I’m really not sure why I never thought to do this before! It’s just common sense. Thanks! (Beautiful photography, Brady! It makes for love at first sight!)

You forgot to add Daryls cappuccino cake!
That’s how I found your blog many years ago. I googled the recipe and voila! I used to eat it at the restaurant in Raleigh all the time. It made me fall in love with sweet coffee.

  5. The older I get, the more I find I enjoy sitting down with a cup of coffee. My 13 year old enjoys it too. She often stirs a spoonful of hot cocoa mixture in there to sweeten it up a bit. It’s delicious!

    1. I was looking for the amount of water as well. I just don’t see it. Coffee grounds and sugar have to have some sort of water don’t they? Sorry Christy!

      1. Nevermind…I see the comments. I didn’t understand it was a cup of brewed coffee! Sorry for the commotion!

      1. Your coffee syrup recipe is lacking one very important ingredient…water! You cannot make any kind of syrup without water. Water is the base ingredient for all syrups. I tried your two-ingredients recipe, sugar and coffee but as was expected, it didn’t work. It turned out be one pot of gooey mess. A thick molasses. Your recipe just does not make sense nor does it work. I suggest you correct or do a video example.

      2. 5 stars
I get some people’s confusion. I was in the military and it was always about details. I think if you just added the word, “ one cup ‘prepared’ coffee then it’ll clarify it for some people. Looks and sounds delicious so I’m going to use my hazelnut flavored coffee
because I LOVE hazelnut! This for your recipe, you just made my day!

      1. I read your praise about Red Diamond coffee and since our local coffee company in Tulsa, OK. stopped selling to the public decided to try R D. I order it now and I’m a fan. Love it. So smooth and a pleasure to drink. Some coffees bother my stomach but not this one. Thank you for promoting Red Diamond. Betty Burgin

    1. There is something definitely wrong with your recipe! WATER!!! In order to make any syrup, water has to be included. Sugar and coffee alone does not cut it! What you end up with is a thick gooey sauce with no consistency. I tried it. I had to add water to it for it to work. You need to edit your recipe.

    2. Oh I do love the idea of subbing the sweetened coffee instead of water for brownies! Boom! Gonna put that advice to play! Thanks Christy! ~Jena
