Thanksgiving Menu Bonanza
I’m so excited for the holidays to be here, a time where we all gather together and give thanks for all of the blessings in our lives.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season planned, too!
I’ve compiled a list of recipe ideas to help you plan your Thanksgiving meal below. Of course we don’t have all of this in one sitting but I wanted to give you plenty to choose from! Click on each recipe to view the complete tutorial of how to make it. Recipes which are in the Southern Plate Classic Comfort Food That Makes Everyone Feel Like Family cookbook are noted in the side along with page number. Recipes which are exclusive to the cookbook (not on SouthernPlate.com) are also noted beside the recipe.

We often take for granted the very things
that most deserve our gratitude.
Can I just say, Granny’s Sheath Cake is hand’s down, the best what we like to call “Texas Sheet Cake” I’ve ever tried. It ranks a Hee Haw SALUTE! Yes, I watched Hee Haw with my grandparents as a child.. Junior. Grandpa. Minnie Pearl… need I say more.. but back to that cake! The only thing I left out was the cinnamon. To me, that’s a mood thing. But my gosh FINALLY I found a recipe for uhhmm, (sorry) Texas Sheet Cake that is truly moist and scrum-dilly-ump-tious! Just loved it. Had to break the last half into two pieces, put them in a couple of Lock & Lock’s to freeze them because I just kept taking a bite when I walked by. I left a fork in the pan to make that easy of course. Again, thank you Christy! This is checked as a “done!” on my “Recipes To Find” list!
I am so glad to hear it was such a hit Deb!!!I leave a fork in my dishes quiet often ~giggles~
These are awesome recipes. Thank you for taking the time to do all of this before taking off for your Thanksgiving holiday.
I stumbled onto your cookbook today while browsing Amazon for gift ideas. When I saw it, I immediately ordered three, one for my daughter, one for my best friend and one for ME! Then I googled you & found this website and subscribed to your email. You have a new fan in NC and will have two more as soon as I give the cookbooks as presents!
What a sweet post you did this time. It is nice to hear from someone who is grateful for all God has given her, and He has really piled it on this year. I am so happy for your family and for you. I know that your Mama is so proud of you. We live through our children sometimes and it is such a blessing to have a child who turns out as great as you have. You have paid back every bit of your raising. A blessed Thanksgiving to you and all your family! Love, Marianne
Dear Christy – just wanted to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Thanks for all you do!

You have another cookbook? Where do I get the first one from? I have my wonderful autographed copy of Southern Plate but I knew nothing about another one!
Hey Rita! Thank you so much! I self published a little cookbook shortly after starting SouthernPlate.com but it was retired when I got a book deal with Harper. I own three copies myself and am saving them for the younguns :). If this book goes well, though, I’ll definitely do another one!
Gratefully,
Christy
Thanks I am going to try your Jordan rolls….
Happy Thangsgiving to you and your.
