The children’s table
This is Aunt Sue’s pound cake and Mama’s Custard sauce that you pour over it. Oh my goodness good! The recipe for both is in the cookbook.
My favorite thing in the world. Grandmama’s fruit salad!
Grandmama munching on caramel corn (which makes a great Christmas gift, too!).

Now for Thanksgiving at my house…
Since I was a teenager, Mama and Daddy have always had their Thanksgiving early and then gone out of town for Thanksgiving. So while they make their annual trip to the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, I’m making a big spread at my house to keep from being too overly jealous of them ~grins~
This is my spread. I just laid it all out on the island and we fixed plates to take to the table.
Dressing, fried apples, fire and ice salad, broccoli and cheese casserole, butter peas, marshmallow sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, mac and cheese, buttermilk congealed salad, rolls, ham, and turkey. I think all of these recipes are on Southern Plate or in the book except for the butter peas because you just kinda cook those…
Fixing plates 🙂
See my curtains in the background? I made those Thanksgiving morning. I’m awfully proud of putting it together so fast, hehehe.
Proof that my husband eats my cooking!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I know this has nothing to do with your food but I love the yellow wall color. What is the name of it? Love It!
I have told so many people about your wonderful website. Wish I could have had it when I first got married 8 years ago but at least I have it now. : ) Our Sunday meal after church is Shipwreck Casserole. I fix it in the morning and keep it in the oven while we are gone to church. We are addicted to it : ) Right now, we are waiting for the deep dish pizza to cool off so we can try it for the first time. It smells yummy! Thanks for everything! 🙂
Loved your pictures. Reminds me of our family group. I’m the grandma. We celebrated with 31 loved ones on the past Saturday. We always have our get-together on Sat. after Thanksgiving. I also made your corn casserole and it was very good. Am planning on doing the fruit salad before long.
Your comments make me smile all the time and brighten my day. I made your Mama’s corn casserole for Thanksgiving and everybody loved it. Thanks and keep up the good work…by the way…I love that you keep it real!
Thanks for sharing! Would you please elaborate on the butter peas? Thanks
Your Mom and Dad look like they are in their 20’s girl! Your Momma must use the same Ponds cold cream my momma does!!
All your photos are beautiful Christy. And all that food looks to die for. We eat alot of similar dishes on thanksgving.
Love that last picture. You and Ricky sure do make a beautiful couple. No wonder your kids are so darn cute!
The food looks awfully good too. 🙂
