Treasury of Peanut Butter Recipes (With allergy options!)

My family LOVES peanut butter. No matter what I cook all week long, we still manage to go through a large jar of peanut butter just about every week. It’s just one of their favorite treats! So today I thought I’d bring you a collection of peanut butter recipes on SouthernPlate.com. I’ve got many more that I’ll eventually get up here but these are the ones I’ve posted thus far.  Look for more peanut butter recipes in the future!

If you or someone you know has peanut butter allergies, see the bottom of this post for some great tips on making all of these recipes allergy friendly.

We need a song to start this post off…

A peanut sat on a railroad track, his heart was all a flutter!

Along came a choo choo train (CHOO! CHOO!)

Peeeaaanut butter!

Creamy Peanut Butter Fruit Dip

The thing we probably eat the most of next to peanut butter is apples. My Katy Rose loves sliced apples as an after dinner treat and she usually has at least one or two a day. This dip is a special surprise for a kid’s party, barbecue, family get together, or just a nice after school snack. It keeps well in the fridge, too.

No Bake Cafeteria Peanut Butter Bars

We had these in elementary school and just loved them. They are the pre-curser to the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and so very good!

Check out Tricia Hodge’s version she made of them using Sun Butter, which is an alternative to peanut butter for those with allergies, by clicking here.

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Pie

A restaurant favorite comes home. This post also includes a story about how my amazing Grandaddy lived his life after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

A Really Good Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

I have three peanut butter cookie recipes that I rotate whenever I’m in the mood to make them but this one is just about my favorite. I love how they are thick and hearty, but still have a delicate crumb.

Peanut Butter Fudge Iced Brownies

HELLO! Brownies with peanut butter fudge icing. Do I really need to say more?

Peanut Butter No Bake Bites

These are the old fashioned no bake cookies so many of our Mama’s used to make in a pot on the stovetop.

How to make Peanut Butter Balls

I make about two hundred of these at a time and still can’t seem to keep them. I store them in the freezer and they are a great protein packed snack that the kids (and my husband) love. Packed with peanut butter, dried milk, oats, and honey, they’ve been a long time family favorite.

Yellow Cake with Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Icing

This cake is very special to me and I wrote about why on the post. So many folks have fond memories of this type of cake growing up.

Peanut Butter Cake from Scratch with Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Icing

A special guest post from a dear family friend where she shares her grandmother’s recipe!

For those with peanut butter allergies, check out my friend Tricia Hodge’s list of recipes she has adapted using Sun Butter on her HodgePodge Mom blog by clicking here.

I love Tricia’s blog, especially her homeschooling tips and posts – and I don’t even homeschool!

  1. Hey, Christy! Made a special trip to the store for peanut butter and honey. Met a nice young lady there shopping with her very precious son. Told her about the peanut butter balls I was going to make and about this really nifty place online called southernplate.com. She’ll probably be visiting soon. Made the peanut butter balls this afternoon and hubby and I tasted them BEFORE the frozen stage (couldn’t wait). He requested that I not forget how I made them.. They are great~~thanks for the recipe! Mary(southerner transplanted in Iowa)

  2. Yum! I love peanut butter! Can’t wait to try some (or all!) of these. Also really loved the quote – so true and wouldn’t the world be a happier place if we all could remember and live without judging others!

  3. I may have to get a new keyboard after reading your post…my mouth is watering!

*Sigh* alas and alack, we are diets right now… : (

  4. Nice collection of goodies Christy! I’ve been on a peanut butter kick here lately too for some reason. I haven’t managed to write any of the recipes up yet, much less post them, but I must’ve been on a PB crave LOL!! I sure love that old fashioned icing too – it’s also one of my favorites! I’m sorry I don’t get to stop by and visit much – the site keeps me pretty busy – but next time you swing by my house, please be sure to stop and say hey okay? You have a great weekend doll!!

  5. Your timing could not have been more perfect. My cousin is coming for a visit this weekend and I asked if he had any dessert requests and he said anything with peanut butter. Now to decide which one to make.

  6. Christy, I just finished making your Peanut Butter Fudge Iced Brownies before I checked my email. Great minds do think alike!!!! These are so good and easy.
