Zesty Garlic Bread Seasoning
Infused with garlic, salt and pepper, oregano, and parsley, this easy and delicious homemade zesty garlic bread seasoning recipe will add zest and flavor to so many dishes. The possibilities are limitless!
This recipe for zesty garlic bread seasoning came to me via a Dallas restaurant. They gave our table a basket of what they called “toasties”: strips of crunchy toasted bread covered in the most amazing seasoning. We asked about the seasoning and found out that they sold it, so I was able to bring it home for my family to try as well.
From the very first batch of this zesty garlic bread I made at home, folks came out of the woodwork. “What is that delicious smell?” “When is it going to be ready?” My favorite was when my daughter’s best friend, Sara Jane, came over and the moment she walked in the door she paused and said, “I don’t know what it is but as soon as it’s done I want some!”.
To say that this wonderfully seasoned toasted bread was a hit would be an understatement. So you know I had to come up with my own recipe in order to duplicate it after my jar of seasoning was gone. The zesty seasoning recipe I am sharing with you today is not identical to the one from the tea room, but it is close enough that my family still offers up the same reactions whenever they smell the bread toasting.
This mix makes a wonderful gift, especially when accompanied by a nice loaf of french bread. It also has plenty of uses as an all-purpose seasoning too. All that is required is a bowl and a spoon to stir it together!

I recommend patting the seasoning onto pork chops or chicken tenders before cooking. You can also sprinkle it on a homemade pizza for added flavor. why kosher salt. Why not just salt?
I like the size of Kosher salt as it is larger than typical table salt so easier to handle and I like that it isn’t as processed. But you can use regular salt if you like.
How can I add something like this to a biscuit recipe I have, or a white bread recipe?
Hi Cynthia, add the dry herbs to the rest of the dry ingredients and you will be good to go!
Thank you but how much should I add?
It depends really on how strong you want the seasonings to be. I would start with 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture per loaf and then increase next time if that wasn’t enough. Good luck!
I just sprinkled yellow squash in this seasoning and sauteed it in olive oil. WOW.
Do you ever come to San Antonio?
Hey Sue! I’ve never been to San Antonio! During my book tours I went to Dallas a few times and I used to go to Houston on a regular basis to do a tv show there. I don’t really travel much nowadays as the kids are older and Ricky and I are letting our roots get deeper in our middle age 🙂
The food and ingredients are MARVELOUS!
The delivery is atrocious. Delivered to INCORRECT street on 2 occasions with box coming to my house 3 days later which I did not use because it wasn’t cold but still had to pay. They offered me 20% discount on next two orders. Refused. Will try another service.
First of all….THANK YOU!! I always look so forward to getting the Meal Plans from you!!!! Thank you for the time you put into them and helping others out! I have been going through your old Newsletters and Meal Plans trying to find recipes for Cajun Pintos (like served at Bojangles) to no avail. I’m sure there’s some in there somewhere, I’m just having trouble locating them. When I type in my preferences, I keep getting sent back to a 2008 newsletter but I’m not finding any recipes for them. Please advise. My husband would be extremely thankful as these are his favorite pintos and would be served with your Dirty Cajun Rice!
Peace and Blessings,

Is granulated garlic the same as garlic powder? If not, then where can I purchase it? Local grocery stores are Wegmans, Tops, Aldi’s, Save-a-Lot and Walmart, I live outside of Buffalo, NY
